My master bathroom has become one of my favourite rooms in our home. It has everything a girl needs – a soaker tub and a beauty corner!
A little back story: our house is a 2.5 story house. When we bought it the third floor had two small bedrooms and a bathroom – we didn’t need extra bedrooms on the third floor (the second floor already has three bedrooms) and the rooms were smaller. So, we decided to transform the third floor into a large master suite.
That’s where the master bathroom comes in!!
We had a great contractor that we worked with who helped bring my ideal bathroom to life!!!
The first item I required was a soaker tub rather than a tile shower. It’s a great spot to reset in the evening with a book, face mask and a glass of wine!
I’m also a huge fan of the tile!! I wanted to do something different with the tile in this bathroom. At first I thought about a hexagon tile, but cleaning that much grout was not something I wanted to do (yikes!). So, we decided to do a pattern with the tile instead.
The bathroom is quite big, and due to the attic access we had a corner with nothing in it. We had a plug-in added and it became the perfect beauty corner. I added a couple hooks underneath for hanging my hair appliances.
Both shelves in the room were stained by me! I bought the supplies from the local building supply store and used Dark Walnut from MinWax. I couldn’t find black brackets and didn’t have time to order, so I decided to spray paint regular brackets (I used Flat Black from Rustoleum).
The double vanity and tower shelf are from the Hemnes collection at IKEA (we have the dresser and end tables in our bedroom, too). The vanity offers two large drawers that store everything we use, but I like having a tall cabinet for regular use items like towels, cotton swabs, bubble bath and hair product.
I also use the shelf tower to store my less often used makeup. I picked up this storage box from Amazon a few years ago and love it!!!
My regularly used makeup items (products for my ten minute face routine) sit on the beauty shelf for easy access.
The light above our vanity is from Wayfair and I love the classic, but modern look (theme of our house).
I’ve always loved the look of a bathtub stool to put a cloth or my glasses on. This one has a great history! The wood stump is actually from a tree in our front yard that was taken down this past fall during work done on our water main. The tree was likely 90 years old (same age as our house), so it’s great to repurpose that history in functional ways.
There you have it – my Master Bathroom. It’s a very tranquil and me space!
I hope you enjoyed the start of my home tour – stay tuned for more to come!
